We were both respectively diagnosed with HSV-2 in the early 2000's. I was 18 & stupid, he wasn't careful either. When we contracted HSV-2, there was a stigma attached to STD's...like you were dirty. There also wasn't much discussion about it & I didn't really know anything about it. Anyway. needless to say, dating was difficult. I always eventually had to have "the talk" with the guys I dated & they never ended well. In 2008, a guy I dated (who I finally told) mentioned this site. He was a good friend (still is) and told me about it. I thought I'd check it out. Within a week, I had gone on 3 dates. All were great guys, and who knew that 1 of those 3 guys would be my future husband. We dated for 2 years, and we've been married now for 2 years. We never have to have "the talk" and it's almost as though neither of you have it because there is nothing to be ashamed of anymore. Plus, we can empathize together when we have outbreaks, and sometimes even make jokes.
